Elegant
Quietly polished and composed. Every detail feels considered, but never stiff, showy or overworked.
Now charting a course for Dubai
Josephine began with a boat. In 1929, the Dragon-class racing sailboat Josephine was built for movement, precision and grace — and nearly a century later she became the heart of a restaurant on Istanbul’s Golden Horn. The story was not invented around a theme. It was already there.
Josephine belongs by the water: a harbour, shoreline or horizon that can be seen and felt from the table, shaping the light, pace and mood of the room. The menu voyages around the Mediterranean, shore by shore — the Spanish coast, the Riviera, Italy and Anatolia — from caviar and raw plates to handmade pasta and whole fish from the charcoal grill. Generous rather than formal, polished rather than precious.
Follow the journey

Quietly polished and composed. Every detail feels considered, but never stiff, showy or overworked.

The door is as open for a coffee and a chat as for a celebration. Warmth is the first thing guests feel and the last thing they remember.

Effortlessly warm, with small points of discovery — a line in the menu, an illustration, a ritual — that reveal themselves slowly and reward a closer look.
Istanbul · The Golden Horn · 1929
Built for movement, precision and grace, the Dragon-class Josephine became the heart of a restaurant among Istanbul’s shipyards — suspended above the salon at Rixos Tersane Istanbul.
The Aegean · Sea of the Islands
From that first shore, Josephine set out to gather the Mediterranean, shore by shore: the Spanish coast, the Riviera, Italy and Anatolia — caviar and raw plates, handmade pasta, whole fish for the charcoal grill. Every recipe honours its tradition.
Port Said · The Suez Canal
Signature dishes are finished and silver-served at the table. What travels is deliberately chosen: patisserie, cakes and gifts in the Josephine packaging — navy, ivory and gold, beautifully closed.
The Red Sea · After dark
Bright mornings and long lunches flow into sunset drinks, atmospheric dinners and a considered cigar and digestif ritual — without a forced change of mood.
The Arabian Sea · Towards the Arabian Gulf
Every Josephine has a visible, meaningful relationship to water. The view, the light and the waterfront pace shape the experience.
Dubai · Jumeirah Beach Residence
Josephine arrives on new shores. In Dubai, the legacy of dhows, pearl divers and Gulf trade routes adds its own maritime chapter — while the spirit at her helm remains unmistakably the same.
Meet us by the waterFrom daylight to after dark
A restaurant heart with a lounge’s ease: settle in for a coffee and cake, a long lunch or a candlelit dinner — and every visit feels equally intended.

All day
Running alongside the dining room, the lounge welcomes guests for specialty coffee, loose-leaf teas, fresh juices, cakes and patisserie — with no expectation of a full meal.

Daytime
Specialty coffee, salads, raw plates and bar bites move naturally into a long lunch.

Afternoon
Bar bites, raw plates, desserts and chilled wine encourage guests to stay through the hours between lunch and aperitivo.

Evening
Fire, whole fish, pasta, cocktails and candlelight deepen the mood. The evening may close with a cigar from the humidor, enjoyed on the terrace with coffee or a digestif.

Café & Lounge
Guests may drop anchor briefly: coffee, tea, cake, a light plate, a conversation. Service stays attentive but unhurried, the bill never arrives uninvited, and the patisserie display quietly suggests one more reason to stay — or a boxed slice to take home.
“Cake, tea and no hurry at all.”
The room

A visible, meaningful relationship to water is non-negotiable; the room is transportive without ever becoming a boat replica. The maritime story is carried through construction — folding frames, stitched leather, turned timber — never through motifs.
Terrace & cigar
In the evening, guests may select a cigar from the humidor and take it to the terrace. The ritual is served, not sold: the cut and light are offered table-side, paired with coffee, chocolate or a digestif.
